Job Title: Contract Grant Writer

Pay: $30 per hour, 20 hours per week

Location: Remote (within the U.S.) 

Schedule: Self-determined, with the exception of two meetings per week

 Immigration Law and Justice Network (ILJ Network) is a non-profit organization that is passionately engaged in serving immigrants as they seek legal status in the United States, by providing free or low-cost expert legal counsel, advocacy, and support services. Through 19 affiliated sites across the country, we pursue justice for all those we serve, while offering a sense of safety, trust, and belonging.

 Position Overview:

ILJ Network is looking for a Contract Grant Writer with a minimum of 3-5 years of recent experience in grant funding research, writing, and submitting successful grant proposals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the internal team to identify funding needs
  • Research and identify grant funding opportunities
  • Complete compelling letters of interest
  • Prepare formal grant applications with strong narratives and accurate budgets
  • Maintain strong relationships with funders
  • Maintain records and submit reports related to grant opportunities
  • Develop, foster, and maximize relationships with institutional and private funders
  • Maintain a database of grants, including deadlines and reporting requirements
  • Monitor and track the progress of funded grants
  • Complete grant reports as needed
  • Meet with Co-Directors and ILJ Network staff twice a week to report on progress

 

Qualifications:

  • Three years of experience in granting writing in the nonprofit sector
  • Proven record of successful grant writing
  • Experience in immigration or racial justice fundraising is highly desired
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate, in writing and verbally, in a clear, concise, and well-organized manner.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of MS Office—Outlook, Excel, Word, and grant databases.
  • Critical thinking and organizational skills are a must
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively and independently
