Immigration Law & Justice Network welcomes President Biden’s new executive order which will protect certain undocumented immigrant spouses and children of U.S. citizens from being removed from the United States and ripped apart from their loved ones. The order would also streamline a waiver process for many DACA recipients to access employment visas.

The emotional relief that approximately half a million spouses of U.S. citizens, 500,000 undocumented children, and countless DACA recipients will experience with this policy change is immeasurable.

We urge the president to make pathways to citizenship available to all 11 million undocumented migrants in this country.  We believe that families belong together and that all human beings, regardless of immigration status, deserve dignity and access to justice.

We celebrate this hopeful moment, especially after President Biden’s horrific asylum proclamation issued earlier this month.  That policy change violates the law and dehumanizes asylum seekers in search of safety.

We urge the President to continue this newfound momentum by providing dignity and access to justice for ALL undocumented people, rebuilding our asylum system, and addressing the family-based visa backlog.
