The U.S. Supreme Court has announced that it will consider President Obama’s appeal of United States vs. Texas. National Justice for Our Neighbors welcomes this news, which provides some hope for the millions of immigrants here who have been unable to apply for this deferred action since Obama first announced it in November 2014. NJFON will be joining an amicus (“friend of the court”) brief in support of President Obama’s Deferred Action for Parents of Americans (DAPA) and expanded Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) programs.
We feel strongly that not only are the President’s executive actions legal and in keeping with similar actions from past presidents, but that they are also the right thing to do. These actions will help keep families together and enable immigrants who have been a part of our country to come out of the shadows to work and live without the ever-present fear of deportation.
